Did you ever wonder… why do people make New Year's resolutions?

With the beginning of a new year, it is the most popular time of the year for people to hit the proverbial "reset button". No matter what the resolution, what is it about the New Year that brings hope for change and why do people make New Year's resolutions? There are several expert thoughts on the why…a second chance to improve the quality of live, an opportunity to get things right, self-efficacy – aspire to a goal; follow through with it and there is a sense of control of what is happening in my life.

What are the top resolutions for 2024?

●      Save money

●      Exercise more

●      Eat healthier

●      Spend more time with friends and family

●      Lose weight

●      Reduce spending on living expenses

●      Spend less time on social media

●      Reduce job stress

Are one of the resolutions above one that you have made? No matter what the resolution or why we selected it…I am sure we can all attest to the fact that New Year's resolutions may be hard to keep. 

How might you be able to keep New Year's resolutions? 

●     Find an accountability partner…seek support from others. Ask friend or family to cheer you on. Share your goals and what you would like to accomplish.

●      Create a reward system for yourself. Set short-term goals and reward yourself for meeting them.

●      Give yourself a little grace. Have compassion for yourself. No one is perfect. If you have a set-back; don't give up. Take a deep breath and start again.

New Year… New Opportunities for the Palm Bay Community to Come Together!
